This 6th of May, a Finance Committee meeting was held without the only representative of the 70,000 students of PUP, as our Student Regent Karl Paulie Anareta is barred by the administration from entering the said meeting.

Even the Board Materials containing the agenda of the meeting was kept away from our Student Regent. However, we are able to discover that the agenda contain Income Generating Projects, the delegation of authority to Pres. De Guzman on entering business ventures, and a number new of anti-student policies.

The OSR, together with Kabataan Partylist PUP and Anakbayan PUP, strongly condemns this political repression of the De Guzman administration through a big protest action, 80 students all over PUP System, that thundered the Office of the President and the Pablo Mateo Hall wherein the meeting was held.

This repression clearly proves that the administration and the US-Aquino regime is desperate to implement privatization and anti-student policies by not giving the students a voice inside the highest policy-making body in the university.

There will be a Special Board of Regents meeting this May 21, and we are expecting more anti-student policies and privatization schemes that the De Guzman administration and the US-Aquino regime plans to implement. Our unity is our strength, to uphold our democratic rights, to call out to stop student and political repression, and that education is a basic right.

Join the mobilization on May 21! Fight for our right to education!
